In the video for Meghan Moroney’s “I’m not pretty”, the since ubiquitous country singer, and recent Country Music Television Award winner for “Breakthrough Female Video of the Year”. Seems to yearn for a time when she could be taken more seriously, as both a female country music artist. As well as the individual whom she has grown to become.

Moroney (IG: @megmoroney), the since famous Instagram, and TikTok star. Has been, diligently planning, and making music since before she began to attend the University of Georgia. In the video for “I’m Not Pretty”, the star, is seen with at least one other Instagram, and TikTok personality, Natalie King (IG: @inatalieking). Natalie, the former University of Georgia Alum, Cheerleader, and Marketing Major. Uprooted herself, shortly after graduation, from Athens, Georgia. And joined Moroney in Nashville. Where the two, as roommates, sorority pals, and best friends. Both pursued, with equal tenacity, the fervent, and glittering, Country Music profiled cities, nightlife, as well as its marketing, and country tinged, musical possibilities.

On Natalie King’s YouTube account (@inatalieking), you can even catch a behind the scenes making of the “I’m Not Pretty”, music videos beginnings, and on set, “Barbie”, infused pablum.

To write something like this. This article that your reading now. Was actually quite difficult. When you’re as close to the two of them, as I’ve been. Especially when referring to the Instagram, and YouTube platforms.

My own fame, which has exceeded over 100k on the Instagram platform, due to my erstwhile, and since time in the internet spotlight, has been somewhat of a blessing, which I never truly attempted to gain favor with. And the added inclusion in Megan Moroney’s recent video of my initials “KM” (Read: Megan, Natalie, Surely, I Would’ve Shown Up For That!), which is for short, Kevin Michael Miller. And while it could be only a case of mistaken identity, as me and Kacey Musgraves share the same initials. My birthday is in March, like the celebratory clover leaf inspired holiday. And I succinctly remember speaking to both, Megan, and Natalie, her constant companion, shortly before the recording, and launch of her first album, in a conversation which centered around dinner, and good names for a dog. This has unexpectedly been something, which has been, something that in the past, I only expected to happen to fools, or those in love with one another. But I guess by now, when it comes to inspiration lately, anyway. Saying I’m not pretty, both, or either, is only somewhat sarcastic, and not entirely untrue.

Nevertheless, I’ve always found that it’s difficult to write about someone whom you have gotten to know, through pictures, and videos, posted online. And that you’ve followed for so long, and yet never expected such success to reach them, so fast. On Instagram we’re practically friends. So, to see them both, with millions of views on their videos, on the video, and streaming platform of YouTube. Is one of those aha! Moments, that no one ever prepares you for, when you, or someone that you know becomes famous.

This article, which I’m writing, originally for my politics blog kevinspolitics.com. Has been somewhat of a blessing that I never knew I would receive. I mean sure following the two of them on Instagram, and YouTube, has given me the ability to get to know these two young stars, and their daily lives. From “What To Get To Eat From Dutch Bros.”, to “#ChristmasDecorating”, with Red, and Pink “#Bows”, On well-lit Christmas Trees, and Fireplace Mantles.

Their Apartment, and I’m unsure of its current condition, was the two bedroom high-rise apartment, which was apparently desired, an order to create such country music hits as “Tennessee Orange”, “I’m Not Pretty”, and her latest, a Lyrics Video for “No Caller ID”, in this quaint but upscale, downtown Nashville apartment.

Aside from the pictures of Elvis Presley, custom prints, the couture shag, and carpeting. The constant banter, and haggling that goes into the sheer amount of clothes that the one, or the other wishes to borrow for vacations as various as Hawaii, Los Angeles, Coachella Music Festival, or just for a weekend in Flagstaff, Arizona. Along with the copious amounts of skin care moisturizers, face mask, and makeup, that the duo has been known to use. It has become apparent to this author, that while I may have been fortunate enough to garner my own following, on the same Instagram platform. To be able to do it with resources that appear to have become inexhaustible, is a feat that I have yet to accomplish. Let alone master.

But that’s not always been the case for Meghan Moroney. She, and her family would eventually settle down in Georgia with her Mother, and graduate from Robert S. Alexander High School, in Douglasville, a western suburb of Atlanta. Afterwards she would attend The University of Georgia, studying Marketing, and Music, before eventually joining the all-female Kappa Delta Sorority, and graduating.

But that, I suppose is precisely the point. For had Meghan Moroney, chosen a different path, perhaps her music would’ve entered into the public conscious, and mind, earlier than even when it has now. Growing up, her Grandmother Taught her the Piano, and she became inclined to listening to the radio, and then attempting to learn country music hits, while practicing on her guitar in her room.

When she moved to Athen, Georgia, to attend the University there. She took her favorite Guitar with her, and after, while expanding her network of friends, and acquaintances, she eventually interned for “Sugarland” Alum Kristian Bush. After opening for Chase Rice, and graduating, she, and a friend, Natalie King, moved to Nashville. And she began performing onstage, in front of a live audience, in downtown Nashville, off the infamous Broadway Street.

This, for all intents, and purposes was her prototypical, country studded, chart-topping path, to success, in country music. And while I’m sure that she has not accomplished, all that she had planned for herself. Such as dueting, and featuring on songs from Kasey Musgraves, or Taylor Swift, two of her favorite artists. She, nevertheless, has already accomplished a great many things. From her American Country Music Award, for best female song, for “Tennessee Orange”. To her many, and devoted young female fans, that positions her, to become one of the greatest selling country music artists of all time for Sony, and Columbia Music Records.

When I check up on @megmoroney, her fashionable, and now promotional, official Instagram feed, I’m greeted by both a pinned post, from her erstwhile, and successful May 5th, 2023, dropping for “Lucky”, her latest, and to date, most popular official country music album release. An in feed link, which redirects you to a launch page for her latest Sony Music project, which is set to be released on June 28th, of this year. As well as, a recent post, showing her performing in Nashville, Tennessee, in a red sequin dress, and a custom silver sequined guitar. The new album, which is being released by Columbia, and Sony Music, is set to be only her second studio album. And comes seemingly, on the heels of Beyonce’s eighth studio album, and first country album “Cowboy Carter”, to be released independently by Beyonce herself. This while Natalie King, her, Megan Moroney’s, presumed, still best friend. Enjoys herself, on the beaches of Nassau, in the Bahamas, promoting her latest fashion line for Temu, the online mass marketing fashion retailer.

If this is success, then it has surely come as sweet as any other musical, or country music sensation could have. And, if this is the slice of life, they should both grow accustomed to. Then I guess, “Tennessee Orange”, is how they’ll take it.

This time, for themselves.

And, this time, no matter how “Lucky”, they, or this dance may seem.

Quite plausibly, this time, for good.
